Rampart Pipeline
BT successfully completed the first two of three phases of a critical infrastructure project for the City of Aurora between November 2021 and March 2024, with the final phase scheduled for Winter 2025. BT slip lined a 48” steel liner pipe into an existing 54” PCCP waterline that runs through the densely developed Denver Tech Center. This line is a vital component of Aurora’s water system, connecting the Aurora Rampart Reservoir to the city. All work must occur during low-demand winter months when outages are permissible.
Project Highlights
- Multiple municipalities
- Multiple phases
- Complicated scheduling
Challenges
- Limited seasonal shutdown windows and tight completion deadlines
- Confined space entry was required throughout, which heightened safety risks and necessitated continuous airflow management
- Narrow tolerance between the liner and host pipe
Solutions & Approach
- Created innovative solutions and detailed planning
- Utilized custom-engineered carts explicitly designed for this slip-lining project, allowing for precise and efficient installation of the steel liner inside the existing pipe
- Careful execution and a commitment to safety and quality
